Happy New Year!!!

What New Year's celebration would be complete without fireworks? And boy did we have our fair share here in Kiev. They started at midnight and could still be heard rumbling in the distance at 6:00am! You can buy pretty much any kind of firework in the stores here so everybody was well stocked. It was really quite amazing though: massive fireworks displays right on the street in front of out building, down the road, across the street, off on the horizon...shooting from the roof of our building! The entire city was celebrating, and looking out the window of our little one-bedroom apartment we were able to join them.
